One Day, Two Perspectives: How Two Lead Photographers Work Together During Your Wedding Day
The Groves
A Winter Wedding in Vincennes, IN with Two Lead Photographers with Dunckel Haus Photography.
When two lead photographers work side-by-side throughout your wedding day, something really special happens. Not only do you get more coverage, you get more depth to your wedding story. More emotion. More nuance, and mostly more art. When Hannah and Josh work together throughout your wedding day, you are not only getting two lead photographers, but you’re getting two people who have spent years learning how to anticipate one another’s movements, how each other captures a wedding day, how to support each other creatively, and tell a wedding story from two unique but connected perspectives.
Here’s how that plays out on an actual wedding day.
Two Perspectives, One Moment
Even when we’re side-by-side, we rarely see the exact same thing. We both bring a different eye—one might focus in on the emotion of the moment while the other takes a step back to capture the full scene. This allows us to tell the full story from multiple angles in a single instant. An added benefit to having us capture these moments together give opportunity for not only different perspectives, but different lenses as well. Working as a solo photographer limits what all you can carry and what you can capture, us working together cohesively lets us use complimentary optics to tell your story in a meaningful way.
Some of our favorite moments on a wedding day happen during portraits. We don’t divide and conquer—we collaborate. Often one of us will guide the couple while the other quietly steps to the side to look for unexpected compositions, light, or emotion. Together, we create images that are more dynamic and diverse than either of us could alone.
Covering the Same Parts of the Day, Separately
While we love working side-by-side, there are moments where it makes more sense to divide our time. During getting ready, for example, Hannah might be with the bridesmaids while Josh is with the groomsmen—capturing the same portion of the day from two different locations.
This helps the final gallery feel cohesive and complete without missing a beat.
Being in Two Places at Once
Sometimes, two important things happen at once. A groom’s emotional reaction before walking down the aisle. A bride sharing a quiet moment with her dad. Getting ready spaces that are far apart from each other. Guests arriving while cocktail hour is being set. One of the biggest benefits of working as a two-lead team is never having to choose—we can capture both.
Why It Matters
We believe that every couple deserves a wedding gallery that feels rich, layered, and full of life. Working together means we can be everywhere you need us to be—while also supporting each other creatively and emotionally throughout the day.
If you’re planning your wedding and wondering what two photographers might bring to your day, we’d love to chat. Send us a message here—we’d be honored to tell your story, together.
If you are drawn to this kind of intentional storytelling, we would love to be considered to capture your day.
